17 June 2024:
A new collection of small abstract landscapes, some on canvas and some on board, presented in simple frames either for hanging on a wall or standing on a desk or table. I've been working on these for a few weeks now and will show them for the first time at the Arts and Crafts Market upstairs at the wonderful Brown and Green Life Cafe, in Crystal Palace Park, on Sunday 23 June, 10am-6pm.
Here's a preview!

5 May 2024:
Ahead of the Dulwich Festival Artists' Open House, I've just been putting the finishing touches to three new 80 x 80cm canvases which I started painting last month. The next step will be varnishing; and then I'll make the frames. Can't wait to see them on the wall by the weekend!
During the Festival, my home gallery and studio - and the garden! - will be open weekends (11, 12, 18 and 19 May) from 11am to 6pm. Do visit us and other local artists! You can see more details here, or download the catalogue here (I'm on page 66).
April 2024:
Two new impressionist landscapes inspired by the wild scenery of the Scottish Highlands
March 2024:
In December last year, while visiting family in the Philippines, we had a short break to see friends in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia. One of the highlights was a drive along the Great Ocean Road, with spectacular views of limestone and sandstone rock formations.
This new large framed canvas, 103 x 73cm, depicts the Loch Ard Gorge - named after a clipper that was shipwrecked near the end of its 3 month journey from Southampton to Melbourne.
Preparing for my solo show at the Jeannie Avent Gallery in south London (29 March - 9 April). A portrait of a weeping willow, and new impressionist landscapes inspired by the stunning scenery of the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
I particularly like the effect I've created using the palette knife for the mountains.
February 2024:
The inspiration for these came from a visit to Northern Ireland last year.
January 2024:
Back to work with acrylics and palette knife, after a month visiting family in the Philippines - with side trips to Australia and Indonesia. A series of 40x40 canvases inspired by the lush vegetation of Bali.
November 2023:
These are the four artworks I took to the Philippines in December 2023, as gifts for family members. The framed paintings travelled with us in check-in baggage and arrived safely, and are now with their new owners.
60x60cm canvases, ending up 64x64cm when framed.
Also this month, two larger abstracts inspired by the colours of autumn. Acrylic on canvas, 100 x 100cm
September 2023:
Three more paintings in preparation for the New Artist Fair at the end of September, and my next Open House (part of Lambeth Open) in October.
These are all 60x60cm canvases, ending up 63x63cm when framed.
August 2023:
Another five paintings in preparation for the New Artist Fair at the end of September.
July 2023:
starting to replace some of the paintings I've sold in recent shows
A new series of 50x50cm abstract landscapes.
These featured in my solo exhibition at the Jeannie Avent Gallery,
23 June - 4 July 2023
April -May 2023
Uncle Peter and Aunt Jemma. We think they are related. There's clearly a story here; we don't know the details, but sense some dark undercurrents
Two more shape dreams, and a lily pond at night
Ahead of the Dulwich Festival Artists' Open House in May 2023, I made a new series of smaller abstract landscapes.
Acrylic on stretched canvas, each 40 x 40cm
Also four new abstracts, each 50 x 50cm
... and two new diptychs, each 40 x 40cm
Supremacy of Yellow
Plough the fields
All are acrylic on stretched canvas, 40 x 40cm, unframed
After a holiday visiting family in the Philippines, we spent the last 10 days of March 2023 touring Japan by train. Our visit coincided with the peak of the cherry blossom season. This new triptych - best viewed side by side on a computer screen - was inspired by the subtle changes at different times of the day
If you have spent any time looking around my website you may have noticed that I love woodland walks! This one, painted in early April 2023, was inspired by a walk in a remote part of the wonderful Yorkshire Sculpture Park which we visited in the autumn of 2022. 80 x 80cm
